Laser surgery is called refractive surgery, which is applied to patients who use glasses or contact lenses due to eye disorders to ensure clear vision without glasses.
Laser eye surgery is the most common and most reliable method of laser eye surgery in the world and in Turkey. In order for a clear image to be formed, the rays coming into our eyes must be properly refracted and focused on our retina.
This focusing process is done by the cornea and lens in our eyes. In eyes with refractive errors, the light cannot be refracted correctly and a blurred image occurs.
In which eye disorders is LASER Eye surgery performed?
The refractive errors that can be corrected by LASER surgery are myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. These eye disorders are corrected with the help of glasses and contact lenses. When glasses or lenses are not worn, the patient sees blurry. In other words, the patient is dependent on glasses and lenses. With laser surgery, the need for glasses and contact lenses is eliminated.
a) Myopia is the problem of not seeing the distance clearly. Incoming rays are focused in front of the retina and distant objects appear blurred.
In the near future, there is usually no problem. The corneas of these patients are shaped and flattened by LASER surgery, allowing the light to focus on the retina.
b) Hyperopia, distant objects are seen clearly while near objects are blurred. While reading something, the letters get mixed up and the eyes get tired. Incoming rays are focused behind the retina. With LASER surgery, the cornea is erected and the rays are focused on the retina.
c) Astigmatism, due to the structural deformity of the cornea, the rays focus diffusely. Both distant and near objects appear blurry. With Lasik surgery, the shape of the cornea is corrected and the light is focused properly.

• Stable vision over at least the past year
• No significant systemic disease
• No history or findings of active corneal disease
• No significant medical or eye problems, such as previous corneal ulcers, macular degeneration, or glaucoma
If you have these prerequisites, you may consider having LASER surgery. Then, your ophthalmologist will perform detailed examinations and tests to evaluate whether your eye is fully suitable for surgery.

• Determination of eye number; In this way, it will be determined that your eye number has not changed and your eye numbers are at a level that can be corrected with surgery.
• Corneal thickness measurement; Identification of thin corneas is very important in preventing postoperative complications.
• Corneal surface map measurement, called corneal topography; It is performed both to determine the disorders that prevent surgery and to apply personalized laser treatments.
• Determination of pupil diameter; It should definitely be evaluated as night vision disorders may occur in people with very large pupils.
• Examination for other eye disease; Diseases that prevent you from having surgery such as dry eye, cataract, glaucoma, retinal diseases will be evaluated.
